I just added my 4th LaCie external HD. This one is a 2TB to join my 1TB, 500MB, and 250MB units, that I use for backups.
The 2TB I got today (from B&H) had a utility provided by LaCie, their USB Boost software. I've installed it and have been running backups to the new drive. Several reviews have agreed that it improves the USB speed (I'm using USB 2.0), if not as much as advertised, certainly an improvement. That reminds me.....I'm looking forward to USB 3.0 making it into systems and devices! __________________

Nice. I find, though, that I want all that storage together, acting as one huge drive. That's why I went with windows home server--or with Server 2003 with all drives striped together.

I do identical backups on the ITB and 2TB so I prefer the separate units as further insurance. The other two have a similar function. I have another on my wife's system, and two more portables for just my music files and travel backups of photos! I can also grab either the 2TB or 1TB for travel.
