I don't twitter either.

Unfortunately, too many people I know now spend so much time on Facebook and Twitter that they don't have time to make real human contact anymore.

OK asked around and it seems that in a business situation you have to build up a following that follow your tweets. You then send Tweets on a regular basis to inform your followers of any upcoming events, discounts, or other things that they might find interesting. For instance, if you are having a showing at a gallery you could tweet everyone about that, or if you are offering 20% off this week same thing. It seems to be the dripping tap principle of advertising.

In a personal setting I have no idea. It's like when sprint walkie-talkie came out and you walked through the store with people going beep " I'm buying a beet now, " or " can you believe there is 10 cents off a can of dog food. " Well I can (no pun intended) but I don't care to be informed of it by everyone else.

I have been a great adopter of technology for years, but I am just not getting Twitter. Perhaps it's just anything that includes the word followers that worries me ?

I twitter a little. I just mainly sync it with my website through wordpress to tweet when I have an update for my website.

I just use it to follow sports / tech news and friends when I'm on the go.

It also helps me keep up with friends and what not.

I am a fan of twitter. I was not at first but my wife got me involved in both facebook and twitter. She uses social media for marketing her photo studio and pro lab but does not overdo it. She is a fellow poster first and marketer second. She is picking up quite a lot of photo shoots from it. I use it for fun. I have friends all over the spectrum of society I have found and renewed through twitter and facebook. I do not market at all on either since I am an attorney and I think it is a little tacky to join just for business and in fact, I am slowing down so I do not want more business.

The non twitter people certainly have their point of view but it takes a while to establish friends so you need to give it a chance.
