Should you leave your LCD monitor on all the time? Definitely not, experts say. Although not as susceptible to image "burn-in" as traditional cathode ray tube-based (CRT) monitors, LCDs can suffer from a permanent ghost image of a screen that has been displayed for long periods of time. So turn the monitor off when it's not in use. Doing so will also save electricity, of course. LCDs need less electricity than CRT monitors, but they still consume as much or more than a couple of standard light bulbs.

My screensaver is set for ten minutes, but I don't turn off my screen or system because there are routines that run late at night.

We turn our monitors off when they are not in use. I'm kind of a penny pincher these days so anything helps. Plus, LCD's don't have a crazy long life span. We get a lot of them in for service and it's always cheaper to sell the customer a new one with a better warranty than servicing the old one.
