The best monitor for photo editing would be one with an IPS panel, a close second to that would be a PVA type panel.
With IPS and PVA, you do not experience the drastic color shift when you change your viewing angle that is common with the more common and less expensive TN panel displays. Personally, I use a Dell 2408WFP, 24" wide gamut PVA panel that I'm very pleased with. On some of the photography forums I follow, I have read very favorable comments about the monitor offerings by DELL and HP.

I'd be willing to bet that this one is a contender for the crown.

thanks guys, budget wise the new Dell U2711 at AU$999 seems to be the better option with the NEC PA271W at AU$2500. better start saving.

I've had a Dell Supersharp for 4 years and I'm very happy with it.
