Backlit keyboards

I see a lot of new notebooks come with an option to add a backlit keyboard. I'm wondering whether this is worth the 49 dollars or so extra. Why would you need a backlit keyboard?

I don't have one, so my response is just speculation...

I surf in the evening while watching TV, and I think the backlit keyboard would be very nice. No need to have lamps adding glare to the tv screen...

I don't know that I would appreciate a back-lit keyboard since I type by touch anyway...

I'm a touch typer too, but some of the non-alphabetic keys aren't quite as easy to find in the dark... maybe I'm just reaching here... :-)

A lighted keyboard is a must for my new laptop. I use my laptop with my stereo and often need to type something when it is rather dark. I could use one for my desktop too because at night I sometimes type by the light of my monitor.

I wouldn't mind having a backlit keyboard on our online PC.

I am going to get one on my new laptop. Can't type and need all the help I can get finding the keys.

I have the Logitech G15 keyboard for my desktop, I kinda half "touch type" and and "look" when needed. After two years of illuminated blue letters and numbers I'm not to sure I could live without them.....and they are a dream @ night when the lights are down low.
