Download Speed: 14467 kbps (1808.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1031 kbps (128.9 KB/sec transfer rate) Not the fastest, but not bad. When I lived in a town called petawawa we would only ever top out at 1mbps. I am very content with what I have now. |

Ha, ha, ha,
What speed you ask? I am on no speed - I am on the prehistoric dial-up (anyone of you still remember it?) with a download snail-pace of 28.8 Kbps - and that is on the good days!!! Cheers Moxi |

Actually, I do know some people even here near the Philadelphia area that use dial-up because they rarely use the internet or e-mail, and don't want to pay the going rates for broadband.

Hi again,
My dial-up is certainly not what I want but the only option at the moment here where I live. My home is actually on a small island off the Tasmanian coast with few people. I am not connected to the electric grid and I am only on 12 Volt batteries. I charge them with three solar cells. I would have the option to get Satellite Internet but the modem is 240Volt. If I add an inverter to my system my batteries will not cope with the power demand. I have to look seriously into finding a low powered 12 Volt modem - but about this technology there are not a lot of knowledgeable people who could advise me. Cheers Moxi |

Is satellite connectivity cost prohibitive?

I have UKONLINE excellent service and support which has rarely been needed .
Only pay for a 2MB speed and normally have 1.96 on speedtest - just tested and got 2.13 down 0.24 up so pretty happy with that ... |
