When I had to replace my last MP3 player, I finally gave in and recently bought an iPod Touch.
I have to admit, I'm really liking it a lot. Besides being a good MP3 player, it's really cool being able to use it to get a quick glance at the Comcast Guide to see what's on any of my cable channels, control my stereo, home entertainment system, e-mail, etc. What are your favorite apps for your iPhone/iPod Touch? __________________

Instant messaging:
If you need access to more than one instant messenger from your smartphone, try Beejive (http://www.beejive.com). This nifty little application can aggregate your IM account from multiple services, including Yahoo!, AIM, Google Talk, Windows Live Messenger, and more. Also available for BlackBerry, Beejive sports a very intuitive and easy-to-read interface, and with it, you'll be able to keep track of multiple conversations from multiple services at once. Forums: Tapatalk (http://www.tapatalk.com) has quickly gained popularity as a web forum reader, and for good reason. First, for those forums that have integrated the code necessary for them to become Tapatalk-enabled, it does away with the forums' bulky web interface and puts the primary content - discussions - in a phone-friendly format. Reading topics becomes a simple matter of scrolling through the threads, and of course you can create new threads or respond to existing ones directly from your phone. Right now Tapatalk is available for iPhone, Android, Nokia, and - in beta - BlackBerry. Once installed, you can use the application to browse for forums by topic, sign up, and start talking. |

Good tip there for Tapatalk. Seems that most of the forums I belong to are now tapatalk enabled, so it'll come in very handy. The default iPhone safari browser doesn't handle forum messages too well.

Gotta have Angry Birds
![]() I play this when I am stuck somewhere and need an escape. MapQuest is really good, Google Earth of course. My banking app is a very handy thing to have as well. I found a great little free app called RED LASER. Scan a barcode with the camera and it brings back the product info including an image and the price! Next time someone tries to tell you the item they are trying to sell you is worth $$$ just scan it! And my daughter's love Sims3 of course...it has amazing graphics and playability for a iPod game. Last but not least, I have a Netflix account so I got their free app and can watch movies and TV on my iPhone or the kids can watch on their iPods...I don't do that much but if I want to I can . There will be at least one iPad under the Christmas tree so this will probably be used a bit more with those.Almost forgot, I have GolfShot. It gives you distances and hole info for your local course. Works great! Expensive though, $50 |

Just an update. I recently installed Line2 on my daughters iPods and they can use them to make voice calls and text. It costs $9.99 a month but considering that they get unlimited calling and texting it is about 25% the cost of even the cheapest Smartphone plan you can get with any carrier here in Canada.
This is a great app and will save you oodles of money. |
