My wife listens to books on tape using her IPOD but we cannot find out how to erase these books after she has finished listening to them.
My Samsung MP3 player appears as a separate drive when I have it attached to my computer but, the IPOD does not. I also got a software program with my Samsung that allows me to control the files. __________________

Which iPod are you using? The model and generation of that model may affect the method.
For example, if it's a nano, you can turn on disk mode and then navigate through it like an external disk, just like your Samsung. For other models or earlier generations, you may have to manage the content files through iTunes. Post a little bit more information and we can get you the steps you need to follow.

Thanks for helping...
My wife's IPOD is a IPOD Touch, 3rd generation, 8 Gigs. I don't believe that she put the books on her IPOD using Itunes. She doenloaded them both from an Internet site and from our public library which offers free books on tape via the Internet. |

Ok, that helps. Disk mode is not enabled on the iPod touch, so you'll need to use iTunes to manage the content.
Set the iPod to manually manage content
Delete the Audio Book
Let me know if that worked for you.

I bought an iPod Touch 3rd generation 32GB some months back. I was hoping to find some ready to go apps on it but instead just found a visual suggestion that I needed to plug into iTunes.
I thought it might be like my Palm IIIx that came with a bunch of apps ready to go without my having to go online to buy anything else. So far I am not confident of online purchasing, what with ID theft, phishing and all that. Someday I'll pursue this further but I've got plenty of other irons in the fire to keep me busy, and I read comments somewhere that people weren't fond of iTunes for dealing with files.... All I want is some of the FREE apps I can get, I don't need any of the others as far as I know....
