SP3 help please

I'm running windows xp media and have been trying to get SP3 to work. After updating I always get black screen saying windows didn't start run in safe, etc...

help!

Can you boot into safe mode and do a last known good configuration recovery?

have been quite a lot of issues with sp3. It you can recover and remove update end things are working again I would leave it at that. some say it is an issue with AV software (partic Zone Alarm) and some say it is related to a usb issue. will check with some friends and get back to you asap.

I have several programs I need to update but they require sp3, otherwisse I wouldn't be concerned.

Does your AMD-based computer boot after installing XP SP3? - Jesper's Blog

can't say I have tried it myself, but has some good starting points. Just make sure everything is backed up before you start over again.

I had this same problem with mine and i used the same tool that Thunder9's posted link above refers to. Fixed it like a charm, remember that the tool has to be ran before updating to SP3 so do a system restore to a date before you installed SP3.
